eye-of-god

Kenneth King's career as an artist and designer spans more than 3 decades. A master craftsman in the tradition of the Renaissance, Ken works in many artistic mediums. Ken began his career by serving a European style apprenticeship under the tutelage of a master gold and silver fabricator.

Ken then expanded his skills by working with a fourth generation fine jeweler, learning the arts of lost wax casting and skills of diamond setting and mounting precious gems. Ken is a master bench jeweler and has been making jewelry for over 30 years.

Ken is also skilled in lapidary arts and in the techniques of gemstone faceting, carving, and cabochon design and creates many one-of-a-kind gemstones for his original custom knives and custom jewelry pieces. Ken applied these skills, along with drawing and design rendering to the creation of custom designed jewelry articles for over 30 years. Ken owned two successful retail jewelry studios serving a wide base of clientele.

In 1996, Ken decided to retire from the retail jewelry industry to focus on new directions. Ken began by studying the lost art of hand engraving under the training of one of the finest firearms engravers in the United States.

Then, Ken undertook the study of the ancient Japanese art of Mokume-Gane, and incorporated modern technology to expand the range of its artistic application. Ken has made a variety of mokume jewelry (pendants, rings, pins, earrings).

A lifelong student of the Asian martial arts, Ken has also been busy designing and making one-of-a-kind tactical and fine art knives. Ken shapes, grinds, and tempers his own steel blades, and embellishes them with gold, gemstones, wood, mother-of-pearl, hand engraving and precious metal mokume. Ken creates his own Damascus steel blades, and creates one-of-a-kind hand crafted jeweled knives.

Today, Ken divides his time between his collectible custom jeweled knives, making damascus steel blades, creating mokume patterns, and custom jewelry creations.
